Tell us a bit about your decision to cut your hair or why you went bald?
My hair started to fall out at around 4 months postpartum with my second son. It started out as normal postpartum hair loss until it started falling out in clumps around 6 months postpartum in alopecia areata patterns. I began to feel very stressed that it would continue to fall out in clumps and I was worried about it happening in public. My way of taking control was to shave my head.
Do you feel you've changed for the better since you went bald?
The second my husband was done shaving it, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. It was the most liberating feeling to take control over a situation that was technically out of my control. I don't feel stressed or anxious anymore. I even feel like my confidence is stronger than it was before.
What words of encouragement would you share with someone who isn't confident with themselves as you are?
Beauty isn't defined by the amount of hair on your head. No amount of hair can hide an ugly personality. If you have a beautiful personality, it'll shine through no matter what's on the outside.
