We'd like to take the time to wish Quandrea Jones a Happy Birthday and thank you for sharing your story with us. Today, you are the #BaldieOfTheDay. As much as we have inspired you, it's time for you to shine and inspire someone else with your story.
How DID YOU BECOME A BALDIE?
I became a BALDIE over 35 years ago. I have Alopecia and I always lacked confidence, self-esteem and never knew my worth because I didn't have hair! A year ago, I decided that I would embrace, who I was, realizing that hair didn't define me!! I made a decision to put the wigs aside and wear my bald head. Three days later, I joined The Baldie Movement and thought "there are so many beautiful BALDIES in the world."
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL?
The confidence to hold my head up high at the bold stares! I hold my head up and think sometimes, "yes look at me."
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT AS A BALDIE?
When I took off my scarf and revealed my bald head to my 11th grade English students and they loved it. They were very supportive and dared anyone to say anything negative about me! They wanted to take pictures to show their parents, because they thought I was so pretty!
WHAT ONE WORD BEST DESCRIBES YOUR BALDNESS AND WHY?
I describe my baldness as BOLD. A woman that feels free to walk around with a bald head, holding her head high walking as if she has a head full of hair. I boldly go everywhere with my head uncovered.
What words of encouragement would you share with someone who’s trying to find that courage to embrace their baldness publicly?
Uncover in your time. I don't think I would've been as comfortable 5 years ago. So, when I got ready, I uncovered and I'm so comfortable, because it was when I got ready. Yes, people will look, but know that they only see your beauty!
